There has been a lot of illness at school recently. We talked about the importance of washing our hands to help with the spread of germs. To illustrate the point we put paint on Neroli's hands. The paint represented the germs. Then she 'played' with the ball. We passed the ball around a circle of children. We could clearly see how quickly the paint spread and hence the germs!
This week it was Jacob's birthday. His mum made a delicious banana birthday for him to share with us. Thank you so much!
Buddy Reading...
Sometimes after morning tea we reread our daily book to our buddies. We each take turns to read. This is great mileage reading for us which is really important to help with fluency.
Kia Ora and welcome to Renwick Three's Blog site! Renwick 3 is situated in Renwick House next to the adventure playground. There are 18 friends in our class and our teacher is Neroli. We hope you enjoy sharing what we have been learning about. Please take time to leave us a comment.

Our Calendar Art! - Order's due back in two weeks time....don't delay!
Take a look at our calendar art. It is also on display outside our classroom. Order forms came home today and are due back in within 2 weeks. You can purchase calendars, cards, notepads, diaries or mouse pads. These make great gifts for friends and families and it is also a great fundraiser for the school.
Week 5 Term 3
This week we have been learning all about the medial vowel 'u'. We have been using the whiteboards to write tricky sentences! Neroli reads out the sentence and we use our letter sound knowledge to write it. As you can see we are very good at this.
We missed out on a lesson with Janey Paney last week but so we were super excited to see her this week. We had very soft and spongy balls to practise our over arm throw. Jane and Neroli put baskets on their backs and we had to get the balls into the basket.
After school on a Wednesday one of the Renwick 3 champions goes to Kelly Sports. Kelly Sports is an after school program to enhance fundamental physical skills.....to no surprise to us, Austin won the trophy this week for his great efforts.
Last term we investigated recycling items we don't use or want anymore. Neroli recently visited the Recycling Centre in Tahunanui and came across something she thought we could reuse to have some fun with. We think she was right!
....our windows and deck are spotless now!
Some children were busy making 'sound' instruments at the creation table. Sylvie made a very impressive camera to catch all the drama with!
Next week...
Our sounds will include short and long vowel sounds.
Our tricky words will be all/one.
During maths we will be doing subtraction from 10/20.
Next week our calendar art will be on display. Please take a look as orders will be due shortly. I will also display them on our blogsite. This is a great fundraiser for the school. There are a variety of options to purchase which make great Christmas presents for family and friends.
Have a happy and safe week!
