Next Friday our school is having a P.J. Day to raise money for sports equipment. The Senior Council dressed up at assembly to talk about it!

On Friday we celebrated Matariki with all of the school. Te Pouahi put down a hangi for us. We went down at lunch time to see it being brought up. It smelt fabulous and was delicious to eat as well!

Week 7, Term 2

In anticipation of our cross country next week we have been doing some fun relay games with Jane. We had to run, jump and throw.

During our week at school we have numerous opportunities to have fun. However underlying these fun times we are actually developing the skills to become life long learners. We are using a whole host of skills, such as, creative thinking, problem solving, sharing and taking turns, looking out for our friends, building resilience, working independently and cooperatively, sharing ideas, listening to others to name a few!

Next week...

Our sounds are l/f, oa/ie.
Our tricky words will be are/said.
During maths we will be looking at numbers that come before or after a given number.
On Friday we have our annual school cross country. The Kowhai children will not be racing until last in the day's events. This will most likely be between 2-2.30pm depending on how quickly the older children get through their races. Our children run two laps of the front field. If you are free please come to support and cheer us on.
Hangi tickets are on sale in Room 16 before and after school. The cost for a child's meal is $8. The hangi is primarily to celebrate Matariki but also a fundraiser to help Te Pouahi children get to the Kapa Haka Nationals at the end of the year. Your support is much appreciated.

Have a happy and safe week!
