Week 8 Term 1

On Monday Rosemary came to talk to us from Nelson Youth Choir. She brought in lots of the costumes she has made that the children get to wear in special performances. We thought they were beautiful. She gave us a notice to take home if we wanted to join the choir.

This week during maths we have been learning about numbers to 5. We used the blocks, tens frames and our hands to look at the patterns.

Thank you to all the parents who came in for Parent/Teacher interviews. I hope you found it beneficial.

Next week... Our sounds will be o/u.
Our tricky words will be it/up.
During maths we will be revising working with the number 5.
It has been an eventful and busy term. The children have all settled so well into school. Thank you for your ongoing support. School will finish on Thursday at 3pm for the holidays.
Have a happy and safe week!

Apologies for not posting last week so here is a large post with lots of lovely pictures to share what we have been up to.

Neroli has been catching us doing the right thing after morning tea. When we come back into the class we read from our reading trays.

This week when we went to see Jane we were working on our catching and throwing skills. Then we got to play hide and seek and chase Jane....what a lot of fun!

Swimming is nearly coming to an end but we are still making the most of our time on these warm afternoons!

On Thursday Jne came to talk with us about Purple Cake Day. She shared with us information about how the money we raise is used. We were amazed that some children go to school and they don't even have any books!

Our sounds will be r/m.
Our tricky words will be for/go.
During maths time we will be working with the number 5/10.
On Tuesday afternoon we will be holding a parents meeting in Renwick 3 at 2.30pm. The purpose of this meeting is to inform you of how we teach maths at school. It would be lovely to see as many as possible attending. Next term we are looking to run similar workshops on literacy programmes.
On Thursday we have some friends from Brook Street Kindy visiting us. We are very much looking forward to this.
Friday 20th is Purple Cake Day. The school will be celebrating and raising money in many different ways. The Kowhai syndicate are planning a face painting morning (thank you to those parents who have offered to help!). Please send your child to school with a gold coin donation for this. There will also be other activities during the day such as Juicie sales by the seniors etc....so maybe a couple of cold coins. Try to dress in as much purple clothing as possible!
Week 8 is Parent/Teacher interviews. I hope everyone has made a booking. If not please come and see me to arrange a suitable time.
Have a happy and safe week!
